CANOE ADVENTURE WATERLAND (AMSTERDAM)

Join us for a beautiful Canadian canoe adventure through the traditional 17th century landscape of Waterland just north of Amsterdam. Enjoy the lovely scenery and its total quietness while you paddle through the Dutch polder landscape with its charming small villages and ancient Dutch houses. A visit to this area is like stepping back in time.

In past centuries people here fought hard against the water to protect their livelihoods. The unique polder area shows how the Dutch have controlled the waters and used them to their advantage. Now the lush green polders are protected by kilometres of dikes and pumping stations, allowing the picturesque villages to blossom.

The beauty of this area with its idyllic waterways and lush pastures was also known by famous Dutch painters such as Rembrandt van Rijn and Frans Hals. They used this area as a source of inspiration.
