NEW YEAR’S WALK (Scheveningen 15 KM)
Kick start your 2019 and refresh your senses on a New Year’s winter walk. A beautiful and varied walk starting in Scheveningen. From Scheveningen we walk to Meijendel, the largest interconnected dune area in South Holland. The beautiful nature reserve consists primarily of open dune landscape, lakes, forests and kilometres of long sandy beaches.
UNPLUG & EXPLORE
During this walk we “unplug & explore”. We’ll partly walk in silence. It offers you the chance to connect with others who want to experience nature fully and deeply. By choosing to stay away from friendly chit-chat and explore what it’s like to walk in nature without speaking, we have a chance to engage our senses more fully and to truly connect with the natural world.
Meijendel Nature Reserve is characterized by damp dune valleys, open sand dunes, irregular lakes, dense pine forests and open access to the sea. Due to its varied landscape, Meijendel boasts an exceptionally rich diversity of flora and fauna. Various types of trees and over 250 species of birds can be found here. This ranks Meijendel in the top 10 of the most bird-rich nature reserves in the Netherlands. Other wildlife includes rabbits, foxes, weasels and deer. The large variation in landforms, vegetation and animal species makes Meijendel worth visiting in any season.
